Going too fast during your approach is a common problem. To slow yourself down, try to follow these tips.First, try to concentrate on placing your heel on the approach first when taking your steps. This will create a smoother and less jerky approach. It will also create more leverage upon release because the approach builds momentum.Another thing to concentrate on is to try to time your push away when the heel of your second step (for a 5-step approach, your first step for a four-step approach) hit's the floor.

A bowler claims that someone turned up the jukebox in the bar just as he was releasing his shot, causing him to throw a gutter ball. The team captain says that it's interference and the shot should be ruled a dead ball. Is this true? No. According to the USBC, interference must involve physical contact, much like the pass-interference call in the Super Bowl negating a Seattle touchdown. Therefore, the gutter-ball stands.
