George Walek, 91, of Butler died Sunday evening at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born May 20, 1925, in Butler, he was a son of the late Frank and Mary Boschinsky Walek.

George was retired from Airco Gas following 30 years and was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Lyndora.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Olenic Walek, who he married March 31, 1973; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

WALEK — There will not be a public visitation for George Walek, who died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 21 Evergreen Road, Lyndora. The Rev. Paisius McGrath, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Greenlawn Burial Estates in Mount Chestnut.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Geibel Funeral Home in Butler.
