Nelson Forsythe

Nelson E. Forsythe, 92, of Lockport Road, Lewistown, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at Brookline Manor in Mifflintown.

Born June 11, 1930, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Emory M. and Alice R. (Mertz) Forsythe. His wife, Doris L. (Heath) Forsythe, whom he married Nov. 9, 1951, survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Nicola A. Hood, and husband, Richard, of Gibsonia; two grandchildren, Dr. Steven Hood and wife, Jennifer, and Lori Barbieri and husband, Brian; and four great-grandchildren, Sean, Matthew, Anthony and Nicolena.

He was preceded in death by three siblings, Glenn Forsythe, Sheldon Forsythe and Marian Kerr.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served from 1950 to 1954.

He was employed as a master gunsmith for Flaig’s of Millville, Pa.

Nelson was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood carving and gunsmithing.

FORSYTHE — A visitation for Nelson E. Forsythe, who died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, at HARSHBARGER FUNERAL HOME, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, Pa., with Pastor William Kuhn officiating the service.

Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown, Pa.
