State police announce holiday crash and enforcement report
HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania State Police investigated 661 motor vehicle crashes in which seven people died and 113 others were injured during the Christmas holiday weekend from Dec. 23 to 25, according to a report released Tuesday.
Alcohol was a factor in 36 crashes, including two fatal crashes, the report said.
Officers from Troop D, which encompasses Butler County, responded to 71 crashes over the holiday weekend, none of which were fatal. Five of the crashes were alcohol-related, and 16 people were injured.
Enforcement data from Troop D included nine DUI citations, seven relating to speed, six for seatbelts and 188 other citations. There were two seatbelt warnings issued and two self-initiated criminal arrests.
