Pauline Greenawalt

Greenawalt

Pauline Greenawalt, 92, of Renfrew, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

Pauline was born on Nov. 27, 1930, in South Bradford, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Leroy and Mae Knight Amsler. She grew up with two sisters, Evelyn and Thelma.

She married Paul Ballinger on March 27, 1948. Pauline and Paul traveled extensively due to his job. They lived in Bradford, Pa.; Renovo, Pa.; Butler; Westerville, Ohio; Punxsutawney; Aberdeen, Scotland; North Kingstown, R.I., and St. John’s, Newfoundland.

When Paul became ill, they moved back to Butler, where he passed away in 1982.

Pauline married Glenn Greenawalt in 1989. They made their home in Renfrew, and she became a stepmom to six children.

She attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Butler and was devoted to her faith.

She was an affectionate mother and stepmother, who always put her children and grandchildren first. She was an excellent conversationalist, who had a memory that far surpassed most younger people. Her friends were amazed at how she could recall what was going on in everybody’s life.

Some of her favorite things were a good cup of coffee, tending to her violets, watching hummingbirds, and sending as well as receiving greeting cards from family and friends.

Surviving are her three children, Darrell Ballinger, Craig Ballinger (Cathy), and Sonya Koehler (Tim).

She leaves behind six grandchildren, Chelsea, Scott, Chalyn, Jay, Briana and Paula; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her six stepchildren, Alan Greenawalt (Donna), Kimberly Davis (Robert), Darlene Heckathorn (Ray), Darrell Greenawalt (Sharon), Bruce Greenway (Nicole) and Trent “TJ” Greenawalt (Dana); 15 stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was a special woman, who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Concordia Lutheran Ministries and Good Shepherd Hospice.
