Paperwork needed for drilling plan

FRANKLIN TWP — The land development plan for the first natural gas drilling site in the township was tabled Tuesday evening by the planning commission.

Harvey Pflugh, chairman of the commission, said XTO Energy did not turn in all of its paperwork. Of the paperwork that was turned in, it was done so on Tuesday.

That did not leave enough time for commission members to review the items. Pflugh said XTO told the commission that the other paperwork will be turned in soon.

“Until we get that all ... we felt it was best to table it,” Pflugh said.

Amy Dobkin, an XTO spokesman, said the materials that have not been turned in yet are under review by the state Department of Environmental Protection. When the DEP is done with the documents, they will be given to the township.

The commission likely will vote June 10 on the land development plan.

XTO plans to build a well pad on property owned by James Cratty off Election House Road.

At the past two township supervisor meetings, many residents have spoken about the proposal. Most spoke against the well pad, but a few supported it.
