Linda Lee Fox Durnell, 65, of Grove City Liberty Township, Mercer County, passed away at VNA Inpatient Hospice at 10:50 a.m. Sunday.

She was born in Pittsburgh on Feb. 9, 1948, to August “Red” Louis Fox and Virginia Lee Norman Fox.

She married Dennis C. Durnell on Oct. 11, 2003.

She graduated in 1966 from St. Canice High School in Pittsburgh. She was a homemaker. She attended the West Liberty United Methodist Church. She enjoyed writing, reading and was a big animal lover. She put others before herself. Her high school yearbook said she “tries to make things pleasant for everyone … unselfish and has a conciliatory manner.” She had belonged to the Glee Club, Art Club and liked good-hearted people.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis C. Durnell of Grove City; a daughter, Jennifer L. Howard and her husband, Michael, of Crownsville, Md.; a son, Richard J. Velte and his wife, Rickina, of Virginia Beach, Va.; a stepson, Ryan C. Durnell of Mercer; a stepdaughter, Shelby R. Durnell of Butler; three brothers, Pat and his wife, Marlene, Fox of Butler; Mike and his wife, Rose, Fox of Baldwin, Pa.; and Tom Fox of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Devin, Jessica, Wolfe, Ace, Austin and Cameron; and many loving nieces and nephews. Also surviving are forever friends, Lorraine Price of Jackson, Tenn., and Barbara Geis Russ of Pittsburgh.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Fox Liebert.

DURNELL — There will be a memorial service for Linda Lee Fox Durnell, who passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. Saturday at the West Liberty United Methodist Church, 135 Church Road, Slippery Rock, PA 16057, with the Rev. Willard Morse, retired pastor, presiding.

Funeral arrangements are handled by the SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Interment will be in Middlesex Cemetery, Saxonburg.
