Chester O. Aspelin

Chester O. Aspelin, 95, of Butler passed away peacefully Monday at his residence.

He was born Sept. 14, 1922, in Butler, and was the son of the late Axel Aspelin and the late Maude Snow Aspelin.

Mr. Aspelin was a World War II veteran.

He worked as a service manager for 35 years at Butler County Ford.

Chester was an active member of First English Lutheran Church, serving as a counter, usher and former council member. He was also a member of the Federated Order of the Police Department and the American Legion.

After his retirement, Chester enjoyed his daily walks through the streets of downtown Butler and so loved his grandchildren and “fur” grandbabies.

Chester is survived by his loving wife of 70 years this year, Janet B. Aspelin, whom he married on Nov. 26, 1948; two daughters, Karen (William) Cranmer of Butler and Carol Achezinski of Connoquenessing; six grandchildren, Christopher (Melissa) Andrews, David (Kimberly) Andrews, Nathan Aspelin, Joshua Cranmer, Jeffrey Achezinski and Megan Achezinski; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Andrews; and his two brothers and one sister.

ASPELIN — Friends of Chester O. Aspelin, who died Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., Butler, with the Rev.
