Pry, Johns lead BC3 victory

Moniteau graduate Aslyn Pry scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds recently as the Butler County Community College women’s basketball team defeated Central Carolina CC, 60-33.

The Pioneers improved to 9-1 on the season.

Karns City graduate Emma Johns scored 14 points for BC3. Butler graduate Emma Monteleone contributed seven rebounds and seven assists while Zoe Morley tallied eight rebounds.

Slippery Rock (men) 60, Bloomsburg 52 — Bobby Clifford scored 13 points for The Rock (9-1, 3-1) which won its 10th consecutive game Monday at Morrow Field House. Khalid Gates added 12 points and eight rebounds, Ahmad Galimore seven points and 10 rebounds.

SRU’s 9-1 start has been bettered only by 10-0 starts in 1923-24 and 2009-10 in Rock hstory.

Jake Nelson had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Bloomsburg (0-8, 0-4). Cam Villourel scored 13 points.

Slippery Rock (women) 62, Bloomsburg 46 — Despite trailing by 12 points in the first half and seven at halftime, SRU (8-2, 3-1) rallied to win by its widest margin of the season.

Bloomsburg (0-6, 0-4) scored only 16 points in the second half, the fewest points allowed by The Rock in a half since surrendering 14 to Penn State Greater Allegheny in 2014.

Isabellah Middleton lesd SRU with 22 points, nine rebounds and three steals. Kennedy Middleton added 20 points, six rebounds and four assists. Kelley McKnight garnered a career-high nine rebounds.

Kelly Leszcynski scored 14 points and had five rebounds for the Huskies.

Both Rock teams return to action Dec. 30 at East Stroudsburg.
