Ann A. Geibel

Geibel

Ann A. Geibel, 90, formerly of Chicora Road, died Wednesday at Angert's Touch of Country personal care home in Butler.

She was born Feb. 24, 1920, a daughter of the late Adolph and Helen Protzman Rettig.

Ann was a 1938 graduate of Butler High School and was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. She was a former member of St Mark's Lutheran Church and the Luther League at St. Mark's.

Ann was a loving wife and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great- great-grandmother.

She had worked at Vovlps Tea Room and Woolworth's.

She and her husband, James F. Geibel, who she married June 16, 1942, owned and operated several businesses, including the Geibel Drive-In, the first drive-in movie theater in Butler. They also owned and operated the A&W Root Beer stand, Geibel's Service and Gas Station, Keystone Taxi and the Key Septic Tank Co., all located in Butler.

Mr. Geibel preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2000.

Mrs. Geibel was a member of the Tanglewood Center. She also was a member of the Western Area Citizens Band Club and was in a ladies card club for more than 60 years.

She will be loved and missed by many.

Surviving are two sons, Ronald (Maureen) Geibel of Schaumburg, Ill., and Richard Geibel of Chicora; three daughters, Shirley (John) Hicks of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Patti (Roger) Young of Butler and Jeanie (Ken) Karenbauer, also of Butler; two brothers, Alvin (Bert) Rettig of Cabot and Arnold (Barbara) Rettig of Morrow, Ga. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, eight great- great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by a grandson, John Hicks; a great-grandson, John Ebie; three brothers, Merle, Silvis and Clarence Rettig; and four sisters, Hazel Emerick, Della Daugherty, Alice Filges and Carolyn Schiebel.

<B>GEIBEL</B> — Friends of Ann A. Geibel, who died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday from St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at 10:40 a.m. Saturday at the church to recite the rosary.The family requests memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
