IN BRIEF
Numerous Knoch and Mars High School football players have been accorded All-Greater Allegheny Conference honors this season.
First-team selections from Knoch include linebacker Luke Kroneberg, linebacker-receiver Mike Cunningham, defensive back, running back and all-purpose player Ben Tackett, tackle Connor Shinsky and guard Nate Anuskiewicz.
First-team selections from Mars include defensive lineman Jackie Mattus, linebacker-tackle Connor Biggs, defensive back Alex Smith, punter Matt White, guard Austin Bitzer and fullback Josh Schultheis.

KARNS CITY — Karns City seniors Evan McGarvey and Breann Wood have been named boys and girls MVPs, respectively, of the Upper Allegheny Valley Soccer League.Anthony Easley, Andrew Johnston, Tyler Pollock and Matt Slagle were other Gremlins named UAVSL All-Stars. Emily LoPresti, Maggie McCain and Emily Schumacher were KC girls represented on the team, as well.
SLIPPERY ROCK — Seven Slippery Rock University football players have been named second team All-PSAC West this season.No Rock players were named to the first team for the first time since 1969.Second-team honorees from The Rock are linebacker Quindell Dean, return specialist Jaimire Dutrieuille, running back Akeem Satterfield, cornerback Anthony Saunders, receiver LaQuinn Stephens-Howling, defensive end Jeff Thompson and defensive tackle Derek Walker.
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University field hockey standout Gabrielle Malischak has been named first-team Synapse Sports and second-team National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-America.Malischak became the first NFHCA Division II All-American at SRU. She ranks in the top 10 of every scoring category at The Rock.SRU's Baylee Childress was named national Rookie of the Year by Synapse Sports and Kelsey Gustafson joined her on the Synapse Sports All-America team.
