SRU basketball improves to 7-1

WHEELING, W.Va. — Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team rallied from a 15-point deficit to defeat Wheeling, 81-78, on the road Tuesday night.

SRU (7-1) is 6-0 in non-conference games this season, its best non-league record since 1951. Wheeling (1-9) had a 54-39 lead with 18 minutes remaining.

Point guard Amante Britt led The Rock with 24 points, including four treys. Lashon Lindsey had 13 points and 14 rebounds, Khalid Gates 16 points. Dylan Ahearn came off the bench to register seven points, five rebounds and four assists.

John Korte paced Wheeling with 19 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots.

SRU hosts Mansfield at 3 p.m. Sunday and Bloomsburg at 3 p.m. Monday.
