John Kristufek

John V. Kristufek Jr., 74, of Harrisville died Friday at the Grove City Medical Center.

A son of John V. and Loretta J. Olejniczak Kristufek, he was born in Pittsburgh on Nov. 1, 1940.

John was a 1958 graduate of Moniteau High School. He received his B.S. from Slippery Rock University and his master’s degree from Indiana University.

He was a math teacher for 33 years. He began his career in Butler and later taught at Slippery Rock.

John was a member of St. Peter Parish, St. Anthony Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, an usher and a bell ringer for Mass.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Slippery Rock.

He also served as a Eucharistic minister at Orchard Manor.

He had been a member of the Harrisville Lions Club, the Tuesday golf league at Shamrock and was a master bridge player. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

On June 24, 1995, he married the former Barbara K. Ciochetto, who survives, along with two daughters, Christine M. Crabtree and her husband, Douglas, of Nashville, Tenn. and Michelle L. L. Kristufek of Reynoldsville, Ohio; a son, John V. Kristufek III of Slippery Rock; a stepson, Edward A. Ciochetto of Butler; two granddaughters, Jennifer Eckenrode and her husband, Keith, and Melissa Eckenrode and her husband, Travis; and three great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are four brothers, James Kristufek and his wife, Cheryl, of North Carolina, Paul Kristufek and his wife, Carol, Mark Kristufek and his wife, Carol, and Richard Kristufek and his wife, Becky, all of Butler.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother and sister.

KRISTUFEK — Friends of John V. Kristufek, who died Friday, June 12, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony Church with the Rev. Kevin G. Poecking, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony Church, the Knights of Columbus of Slippery Rock or to the Harrisville Lions Club.
