Ralph Storm

Storm

The Rev. Ralph Warren Storm, 92, passed away on Dec. 7, 2022.

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., to John and Antoinette Storm, he outlived his parents and his brothers, Russell and Paul.

He was a 1947 graduate of Kensington High School, and a 1951 cum laude graduate of Hartwick College. He received his master of divinity degree from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia and was ordained in 1954. He did doctoral studies at Union Theological Seminary and NYU.

Ralph married Juanita Corrigall in 1954, and she died in 2009.

He is survived by two daughters, Naomi Ruth Howard and her husband, John, and Tracy Ellen Russell; three grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

As an ordained Lutheran pastor, he served congregations in Elmsford and Elmira, N.Y., and Greensburg, Wesleyville and Meadville, Pa. At his first congregation in Elmsford, summer services were held at the local drive-in theater, which resulted in Ralph being featured in Look magazine with Billy Graham and Oral Roberts in an article titled, “Spiritual Boom or Bust.”

After moving to North Carolina in 1984, he was employed in various positions throughout the community, as well as serving interim pastorates in Newport and Greeneville, Tenn., and Newland, N.C.

A roller skater, square dancer and traveler, he was always involved in various religious and community groups, often serving as the director or chairperson.

In 2009, Ralph moved to Concordia in Cabot. He was interim pastor at Grace @ Calvary in Butler, and preached locally. He became involved in the Concordia community, including forming a men’s discussion group and coordinating annual food drives to support the Cabot Food Pantry.

However, of all the positions held, the one he treasured most was that in every town in which he served, his peers selected him as the president of the ministerial association. He was always considered to be a pastor’s pastor.
