Anne Druga Tanis, 86, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Friday, April 3, at the Beatitudes, in Phoenix, where she had resided for the past 10 years.

She was born in Lyndora, and she was the daughter of Julia and Stefan Druga.

She moved to Phoenix in 1974 from Milwaukee., Wis., and previously had lived in Fairlawn, N.J.

Anne graduated from Butler High School and the University of Maryland. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.

She retired from the Department of Public Safety as a fingerprint technician in 1992.

She is survived by four sisters, Helen Leavitt of Slippery Rock, Margaret Jarecki of Butler, Dorothy DeSantis of New Port Richey, Fla., and Evelyn Prokopchak of Phoenix; and a brother, Mike Druga of Butler.

Her sisters, Mary Mudrick and Julia Sandloop and brothers, Nick and Andy Druga, preceded her in death.

Auntie was very close to her 20 nieces and nephews.

<B>TANIS</B> A memorial service for Anne Druga Tanis, who died Friday, April 3, 2009, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, at the Beatitudes-Everett Luther Life Center, 1616 W. Glendale Ave., Ariz. A funeral Mass will be held at 6 p.m. April 14 at St. Stephen's Byzantine Catholic Church, 8141 N. 16th St., Phoenix.In lieu of flowers and honoring her love of children, books and sports, donations can be made to Books for a Better World, 5025 N. Central Ave. No. 649, Phoenix, AZ 85012; or to the Woman's Sports Foundation, 1899 Hempstead Turnpike No. 4000, East Meadow, NY 11554Arrangements are by the <B>Hansen Mortuary</B>, Phoenix.
