Sophie 'Berenice' Platek
Sophie “Berenice” Platek, 92, of Portersville, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Saturday afternoon, at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Born in Allison, Fayette County, Aug. 7, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Misljenovich Mamula.
She was a member of the St. Christopher at the Lake Catholic Church in Prospect.
She and her husband had owned Victory Glass in Pittsburgh.
She was the beloved mother of Berenice Madjaric (Robert) of Portersville and Anthony Platek Jr. of Cranberry Township.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Platek Sr., who she married Aug. 3, 1946, and who died Nov. 20, 1974; and also by four sisters and two brothers.
<B>PLATEK </B>— Friends of Sophie “Berenice” Platek, who died Saturday, April 2, 2011, will be received at the <B>McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home</B>, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at the St. Ferdinand Roman Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, PA 16066, Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery, Ross Township.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Ferdinand Church Building Fund.Directions and condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
