Jack D. Thompson, 72, of Petrolia, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2022.

Born on Aug. 25, 1950, in Grove City, Jack was the son of the late Charles S. Thompson and the late Shirley M. Donaldson.

Jack retired from a lifelong career at Slippery Rock University as a boiler operator.

He was a life member of the Valley Dam Sportsman Snowmobile Association. He was a very accomplished hunter, fisherman and trapper, and recently had a successful deer hunt in Saskatchewan. Jack loved to be in the outdoors and enjoyed gardening.

Jack is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Rosalie Ann (Johnson) Thompson; his daughter, Marla Bodnar and her wife, Jacqueline A. Solada, of Butler; two granddaughters, Alisha (John) Michael and Kelsey Bodnar (fiancé Jordan Ruby); two great-grandchildren, Layla and Mason Michael; his twin sister, Jill (Edward) Geidner of Grove City; three brothers, P. Kevin (Deborah) Thompson of Boyers, Scott K. Thompson of Petrolia, and Clyde Martsolf of Chardon, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Ann, who passed away June 7, 1982.

THOMPSON — Family and friends of Jack D. Thompson, who died Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, will be received for visitation from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Maitland of First Baptist Church in Butler officiating.

Private burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
