SR’s Browns wins 3 in harness racing

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove three horses to victory during harness racing action Wednesday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Brown piloted Black Hawk Down to a win in a $10,300 Conditioned Claiming Trot. He led Del Cache to victory ion a $6,700 Conditioned Claiming Trot.

He teamed with trainer Nathan Bresnahan of Butler to lead Cathy Hanover to triumph in an $8,800 Conditioned Claiming Pace. Dandy’s Starlette finished second to give Bresnahan an exacta sweep.

Pirates get pitcher in Rule 5 Draft

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates selected left-handed pitcher Jose Hernandez from the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Class AAA roster with the third overall pick in the Rule 5 Draft Wednesday.

Hernandez, 24, was a combined 4-4 with eight saves and a 3.32 earned run average between High-A Great Lakes and Class AA Tulsa in 2022.

Knoch grad Fraser earns All-Region honors

GROVE CITY — Knoch graduate and Grove City College junior wideout Scott Fraser was one of two Wolverines to earn D3football.com All-Region honors for the 2022 season.

Fraser was named as a first-team All-Region 2 performer after leading the Presidents’ Athletic Conference with 70 grabs, 1,145 yards, and 10 touchdown receptions. He had a career-best 209 yards on 10 catches in September against Carnegie Mellon.
