Dorie A. Metcalfe
Dorie A. Metcalfe, 100, passed away peacefully Thursday in Mohan's Personal Care Home in Butler where she has lived happily for the past two years.
Dorie was born on Dec. 17, 1915, in Braddock, Pa., to Daniel and Mary Grace Webb.
She eloped and married her longtime friend and love, Dr. Arthur C. Metcalfe, in January 1935, who preceded her to their eternal home in 1975.
Dorie would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can't refuse, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time, and especially the love of her life, Art. She has left detailed instructions for her children to celebrate her mission, which now has been completed. She will be greatly remembered and sorely missed by all of those she came in contact with.
Dorie is survived by 10 of her 11 children, Annette Gorog (Ralph), Arthur David (Rosita), Daniel (Bobbie), William (Barbara), Richard (Janet), Robert (Wendelynn), Beverly Lotz (David), Margaret King (Kent), Marcia Halle (George), and Mary Pat Knobloch (Bruce). Her beloved daughter, Janice Beckey, went on ahead of her to glory in 1988. She also lost her infant son, Jonathan, in 1950. What a great reunion they will all have.
She also is survived by 29 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Dorie lead a full and beautiful life, and she will be greatly missed by not only the family she leaves behind, but nine foster children she lovingly nurtured and cared for as well. She leaves a huge legacy, and her family has the charge before them to do her proud.
We owe a debt of gratitude to Lou Ann Mohan and Jan Shuler, who lovingly and selflessly cared for our mom at Mohan's Personal Care Home as if they were her very own daughters. They developed a deep love for one another, and we are forever grateful to have these new “sisters” in our lives.

METCALFE — Friends and family of Dorie A. Metcalfe, who passed away peacefully Thursday, April 28, 2016, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of a memorial celebration at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church of Prospect, 115 Church St., Prospect, PA 16952.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mohan's Personal Care Home, 3450 Beck Road, Butler, PA 16002.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Dorie's family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
