David Greenawalt
David Greenawalt, 64, of Yuma, Ariz., passed away Feb. 23 from a long-term illness.
Born Jan. 31, 1945, David was a 1963 graduate of the Fairview Township-Karns City High School, a U.S. Air Force veteran and worked at Johns Manville prior to employment by the U.S. Postal Service, Yuma.
David placed others before himself and never missed an opportunity to help in any way.
He loved to read, travel and work in the yard and loved his boxer dogs.
He had a contagious laugh and brought joy to those around him. He sent cards and never missed anyone's special occasion.
David is survived by his wife, Della; a daughter, Meg (Luis) Rodriguez, Yuma; a son, Richard Greenawalt, Phoenix, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth (Chuck) Thompson, Yuma; siblings: Jack (Lorrie) Greenawalt, Fallon, Nev.; Fred (Wilda) Greenawalt, Chicora; and Shirley (Cliff) Oesterling, Beverly (Bill) Olenic, Larry (Merry) Wagner, Janet Wagner, and Debbie Wagner, all of Butler; five grandchildren; and numerous loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Greenawalt and Margaret Lightcap Wagner; a brother, Harvey Greenawalt; and his first wife, Nancy Puff Greenawalt.
<B>GREENAWALT </B>— A family memorial for David Greenawalt, who died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, was held in Butler. Family services will be held March 5 at the First Presbyterian Church in Yuma.
