Timothy D. Stewart

Timothy D. Stewart

Timothy D. Stewart, 48, of Middlesex Township passed away Thursday after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.

Born on March 22, 1969, he was a son of Edward and Lynn Stewart of Middlesex Township, who survive.

Tim was a graduate of Mars High School where he lettered in both football and baseball. He was a talented pitcher and earned the Golden Arm award in 1986 for most wins in a baseball season. He went on to play at the collegiate level earning tryouts with several major league teams including the Pirates.

Tim spent many years as a hockey referee, officiating games for local youth, college and adult leagues.

He was an avid hunter and sports fan, especially NASCAR and baseball.

As a devoted father, Tim enjoyed coaching his boys' football and baseball teams, rarely missing any games they played. In 2015, he formed the Mars Sliders baseball team which competes in the Butler Eagle County League so his boys and their friends would always have a team on which to play.

Watching his sons succeed was his greatest source of pride. Also skilled at woodworking, Tim's latest venture was making baseball bats with his boys. He enjoyed working with his hands and was happy to share his talent with his sons.

Tim was employed for many years by Haas Automation as a field service technician and service manager for the Pittsburgh Division.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lynda (Kunkel), whom he married Oct. 24, 1992; his sons, Dylan, 23, Colin, 22, and Cameron, 17. Also surviving are two brothers, Richard of Pittsburgh and Mark (Heather) of Gaithersburg, Md.; his mother-in-law, Jean Kunkel of Allison Park; his brother-in-law, Michael (Rachel) Kunkel of Fort Worth, Texas; and his sister-in-law, Marcie (Phil Kohnen) Burkhart of Glenshaw. Several nieces and nephews, including his special niece and nephew, Paige and Brett, also survive.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, H. Bud Kunkel.
