Harold Bittle
Harold G. Bittle, 94, went home to be with his Lord on Dec. 2, 2022.
He was married to his beloved wife, the late Marcella R. Tewalt Bittle for 72 years.
Born on May 6, 1928, he was the son of the late Maynard and Elsie Mae Bittle, and the brother of the late Maynard Jr. and Richard Bittle.
He is survived by a brother, Robert (Doris) Bittle; and children, Cathy (Dr. Charles) Conger, Diana (Charles) Kratz, Steven (Jamie) Bittle and Timothy (Patricia) Bittle.
He was the proud grandfather of Michael (Kimberly) Conger, Andrea Conger, Peter (Lindsay) Conger, Rachel (Michael) Mensink, Laura Conger, Sherry (Joshua) Sachleben, Erin (Robert) Kling, Christina (Vincent) Sabatine, Alexandrea (Dan) Cox, Taylor Bittle, Morgan (Jesse) Nelms; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Harold served in the U.S. Navy from 1947 to 1949.
He married the love of his life, Marcella on June 11, 1949.
In 1951, he graduated from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, with a chemistry degree and minors in math, physics and art.
Harold joined the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company as a research chemist in coatings and resins facility in Milwaukee, Wis. During his career at PPG, he held a variety of positions in research product development, technical management, and international executive management. Upon earning a master’s degree from The University of Illinois, Harold was appointed vice president of International, Coatings and Resins Division of PPG Industries in Pittsburgh, until his retirement in 1987.
Harry was known for his devotion to the community as president of the Richland Youth Foundation, and was on the board of directors of the Babcock School District, now Pine Richland. He was a founding member of the Richland Swim Club, the Richland Park Board and coach of youth basketball and wrestling.
At the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, he and Marcella taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years. Harry served as elder and deacon at both Bakerstown and Brookfield Presbyterian Church in Wisconsin.
Harry is with Jesus now and walking hand in hand with his beloved Marcella.

BITTLE — Friends of Harold G. Bittle, who died Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, will be received from noon until 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.
Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown.
Interment will follow at Bakerstown Cemetery.
