County Election Commission report reviews of 2020 election, makes recommendations

Results of a bipartisan review on the implementation of Act 77 voting regulations during the unprecedented 2020 presidential election were released Friday by Butler County Commissioners.

The detailed dive by the Butler County Election Commission included a list of nine priority recommendations, which were outlined to state legislators in a meeting following the Butler Chamber of Commerce Legislative Breakfast at the Butler Country Club.

The 31-page report included major impacts on the management of the election resulting from mail-in voting and ballot on demand, county Elections Bureau staffing issues, “unclear” election guidance, Supreme Court rulings and an intense presidential race. The COVID-19 pandemic provided additional pressure, which affected poll workers and voting sites, according to the report.
