6 score double digits for SRU

Six players scored in double figures to lift Slippery Rock University's women's basketball team to a 108-105 win over host Salem (W.Va.) Wednesday night.

Senior guard Madison Johnson led the way with a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds. Karns City graduate LeeAnn Gibson added 14 points and seven boards.

The game was tied at 103 with 34 seconds remaining before Karington Ketterer hit a free throw to put The Rock up for good.

Also scoring in double figures for The Rock (2-2) were Brooke Hinderliter (19), Daeja Quick (13), Olivia Fusaro (13) and Ketterer (10).

SRU led 35-22 after one quarter, but trailed 53-52 at halftime.

Nia Bishop paced Salem with 20 points.

Both BC3 teams dropped decisions to Garrett College (Md.), the men a 116-72 final while the women fell by a 70-56 count.The Pioneer men received a standout game from Jamir Carter, who scored 40 points. Andrew Yonker added 10 points and 10 boards and Dom Schmidt 10 points.Casey Kretzer scored 26 points and Alexis Barnhart 14 for the Pioneer women.A loss to Potomac State earlier this season has been changed to a forfeit win for BC3's men after it was revealed Potomac used an ineligible player.
