Hannah Hassler

Hannah Hassler, 8, was crowned overall Supreme Winner April 9 at the Easter Extravaganza Pageant sponsored by the American Angels Pageantry at the Tanglewood Center.

Having received the highest award in the 6-to-8 -year-old division and the 9-to-12-year-old division, she is eligible to compete at the National Pageant later this year.

A second grader at South Butler Primary School, she is the daughter of Steve and Tammy Hassler of Butler.

Brian Regis, formerly of Butler, was honored as winner of the 2011 Diane Kent-Parker First Year Teacher Award.A fourth grade teacher at Cedar Fork Elementary School in Cary, N.C., Regis was selected from 163 applicants in Wake County.A 2004 graduate of Butler High School and a 2008 graduate of Edinboro State University, he is the son of Mary Ann and Chuck Regis of Butler.———

The Community Health Center's board of directors and staff honored its volunteers April 15 at an evening reception in the AK Steel Lobby at Butler County Community College.The volunteer group enables the Community Health Center to offer medical and dental services at no cost to the uninsured, income-eligible residents of Butler County. Volunteer physicians, nurses, dentists and pharmacists deliver professional services while other volunteers do data entry, determine patient eligibility for services, answer phones and perform other services.Executive director <B>Cece Foster </B>and director of operations <B>Rachel Lore </B>presented the awards to 2010's volunteers of the month and the top four volunteers.<B>Dalene Gustkey</B>, <B>Elaine Szwed </B>and <B>Ruth Ann Blose </B>volunteered a total of 1,158 hours during 2010. The volunteer with the most hours was <B>Elaine Read</B>, who contributed 745 hours of service.The total number of hours contributed by clinic volunteers in 2010 was 7,640. The value of those hours as classified by job category is $178,920. <B>
