Edward “June Bug” Lawniczak Jr.
Edward “June Bug” Lawniczak Jr., 82, of West Sunbury, formerly of Polish Hill, passed away on Thursday at his residence.
Ed was born Nov. 16, 1935, in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late Edward Lawniczak Sr. and the late Anna Szewczyk Lawniczak.
Ed proudly served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He retired as a truck driver for Halls Motor Transport and after retirement, he mowed the West Sunbury Union Cemetery for 13 years.
Ed was a member of the American Legion Post 117 in Butler.
Before joining the Marines, he played football and baseball at West Penn and was a Golden Gloves Boxer in 1952.
Ed is survived by one daughter, Lori Ann Bell and her husband, Dr. William Bell, of Michigan; four sons, Edward “Eddie” Lawniczak III and his wife, Robin, of West Sunbury, Glenn M. Lawniczak and his wife, Cindy, of Ponchatoula, La., Kirk Lawniczak of Ponchatoula, La., and Steven R. Lawniczak of West Sunbury; and two grandchildren, Dylan and Lauren Bell.
He is also survived by one half sister, Robin; and one half brother; Wesley.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Gerrich Lawniczak, who passed away Aug. 18, 2007; two brothers; and two sisters.
LAWNICZAK — The family of Edward “June Bug” Lawniczak Jr., who died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.A blessing service will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Sunday with the Rev.
