Leonard M. Acquaviva

Leonard M. Acquaviva, 95, of Butler passed away Tuesday at the Community Living Center at VA Butler Healthcare.

Born in Butler April 1, 1922, he was a son of the late Carlo and Louisa DeFoggi Acquaviva.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He received two Purple Hearts for wounds received in Africa.

Leonard was a barber. He had a shop on West Wayne Street from 1948 to 1965 and then he worked on Main Street for a number of years.

He, along with his wife, owned and operated Acquaviva's Pizza Shop on West Wayne Street.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler and he was a former member of the Mount St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in New Kensington. He also was a member of the Sons of Italy, the Moose Lodge of Butler and VFW Post 249 of Butler, and he was a past member of the Cubs ASA.

He is survived by two sons, Michael V. Acquaviva and his wife, Paula, of Frederick, Md., and Carl D. Acquaviva and his wife, Marisa, of Malabar, Fla.; two daughters, Leona Ricchuito and her husband, Rick, of New Kensington and Pam Graham and her husband, Tom, of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; one sister, Rose Brough of Butler; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie T. DiCamillo Acquaviva, who died June 27, 2015; four brothers, Donald “Dan”, Joseph, Carl and Pat Acquaviva; and two sisters, Ann Mihalko and Philomena Beck.

ACQUAVIVA — Friends of Leonard M. Acquaviva, who died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
