Douglas A. 'Bubba' Pickett Jr.

Douglas A. “Bubba” Pickett Jr., 46, of Harmony passed away unexpectedly on Saturday.

Born Oct. 11, 1965, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Linda Winn of Sewickley Township and Douglas A. Pickett Sr. of Evans City.

Doug was a carpenter with Local 922 Carpenters Union, where he was the current vice president. He was a proud life member of the Harmony Volunteer Fire Company, where he was a longtime assistant chief. He was a member of the Evans City Sportsmen’s Club and was an avid Pennsylvania and Colorado hunter. He enjoyed riding quads and tinkering around in his backyard. Above all, he was a Christian man who was a wonderful provider and who loved his family and friends dearly.

He is survived by his adoring wife of 23 years, Sue R. (Cole) Pickett, who he married on June 25, 1988; his two sons, Douglas A. Pickett III and Cody A. Pickett, both of Harmony; his stepmother, Ruthie Pickett of Evans City; his two sisters, Sharon Etzel and her husband, Jack, of Ellwood City and Cassandra Pickett and her fiance, Michael Hanks, of Cranberry Township; his maternal grandfather, Albert Heitz of Austintown, Ohio; his parents-in-law, Sonny and Eva Cole of Mars; his sister-in-law, Denise Shaffer and her husband, Ken, of Virginia; his three nieces, Danielle Gifford and her fiance, Bill Smith, Carlee Mincer and Sara Shaffer; his three nephews, Ryan Gifford, Ethan Mincer and Alex Shaffer; and his precious great-niece, Brielle.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Anthony and Trude Pickett; his maternal grandmother, Marylou Heitz; and his aunt, Patricia Whited.

BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Park United Presbyterian Church, 115 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with Pastor Paul Merrill officiating. Everyone please meet at the church.
