Fleeger

Walter E. “Sonny” Fleeger, 81, of West Sunbury, peacefully passed away the morning of Nov. 25, 2022, in the comfort of his home.

Sonny was born on June 19, 1941, in Butler, and was the son of the late Walter C. Fleeger and late Sara M. Chippi Fleeger.

Sonny was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was employed as a welder.

He enjoyed farming, working with his hands, and fixing cars.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jeannette Simmons Fleeger; his son, Justin (Candice) Fleeger of Harrisville and their expected son, Baby Boy Fleeger to be born in January; his son, Sonny James Fleeger of Butler and his children; one sister; two brothers; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and many aunts and uncles including Aunt Verneita and Uncle Don Simmons, who helped take care of Sonny.

Sonny was preceded in death by one sister; two brothers; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Robby Simmons.

FLEEGER — Family and friends of Walter E. “Sonny” Fleeger, who died Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, will be received for visitation from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, at WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.

Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Marshall officiating.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sonny’s family for expenses.
