SRU wins pair of games

Men’s, women’s basketball teams remain on a roll

SLIPPERY ROCK — Deleah Gibson scored 17 points, tallied five rebounds and three assists Wednesday as Slippery Rock University’s women’s basketball team nipped Malone, 60-58, at Morrow Field House.

The Rock men improved to 4-0 Tuesday with an 82-60 win over Daemen at Morrow Field House.

In the women’s game, Kennedy Middleton produced her fourth consecutive double-double by scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She had four assists as well as SRU moved to 4-1 on the year. Malone slipped to 3-2.

Isabella Middleton had 16 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.

SRU’s men are 4-0 for only the sixth time in program history. Amante Britt had 18 points and four assists. Khalid Gates had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Jonathan McCall 16 points and 10 boards. They combined to go 13-for-13 at the foul line.

Jomo Goings came off the bench to score 11 points for The Rock.

SRU’s men host Charleston at 3 p.m. Saturday at Morrow Field House. The Rock women host Fairmont State at 1 p.m. Sunday.
