St. Joseph wins sportsmanship award

St. Joseph High School was a recipient of the WPIAL Sportsmanship Award during the district’s 27th annual Sportsmanship Summit at the Heinz History Center and Sports Museum.

This marked the second time St. Joseph has won the award, the first being the 2013-14 academic year.

BC3 women fall to Prince George

BUTLER TWP — The Butler Township Community College women’s basketball team fell to 3-2 Saturday with an 86-53 loss to Prince George.

Aslyn Pry scored 18 points and 12 rebounds, Emma Johns 13 points and nine boards for the Pioneers. Zoey Morley had eight rebounds, Emma Monteleone five assists.

Prince George (4-0) is ranked No. 7 in NJCAA.

SV graduate Bickert earns PAC honors

MEADVILLE — Seneca Valley graduate Jess Bickert, a freshman at Allegheny College, has been named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Bickert averaged 11 points and eight rebounds in two games for the Gators, including a 13-point, 10-rebound performance against Franciscan.

Butler hockey falls to Greater Latrobe

VALENCIA — Carter Bohonak scored his first varsity goal, but Butler’s varsity hockey team dropped a 5-3 decision to Greater Latrobe recently at the Frozen Pond. Owen Denny and Brady Bauer also scored goals for the Golden Tornado.

Brody Simko and Parker Worsley assisted on the tallies. Goaltender EJ Delaney made 27 saves.

Butler hosts Armstrong at 9:10 p.m. Monday at the Frozen Pond.
