PennDOT encourages holiday travel safety
The state Department of Transportation is launching “Operation Safe Holiday” to remind drivers to take precaution this weekend and throughout the holiday season.
According to a news release, child car seat checks, sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols, and regular traffic safety patrols will begin Nov. 23 through the New Year's holiday along the Pennsylvania Turnpike and other major road.
Turnpike officials expect Thanksgiving to be the busiest travel holiday of the year with 3.5 million motorists traveling during the six-day period starting Nov. 22 through Nov. 27, with Tuesday and Wednesday being the heaviest travel days.
