Albert Edward Fenrick
Albert Edward Fenrick, 87, of Mercer, Springfield Township, Mercer County, passed away at 9 p.m. Monday at his home.
Albert was born March 22, 1928, in Pittsburgh to Albert George Fenrick and Marie Theresa Wippenbeck Fenrick.
He graduated from West Sunbury High School in 1946.
Albert married Velma Joan Grossman Nov. 22, 1950.
He retired in 1988 from Slippery Rock University, where he had worked as a carpenter. In addition to working at the university, he had been a self-employed farmer for most of his life and taught farming at George Junior Republic in Grove City. He also worked with others in residential construction.
Albert was a member of Church of the Beloved Disciple in Grove City and was a former knight of the Knights of Columbus in Grove City. As a young man he enjoyed playing baseball and later enjoyed playing softball with his children. He loved bass fishing, hunting, playing his accordion and mostly spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Velma, at home; two daughters, Kathleen J. “Kathy” Jack and her husband, William Thomas “Tom,” of Grove City and Sarah M. “Sally” Gargasz and her husband, Larry W., of Grove City; his son, Thomas A. Fenrick and his wife, Tina I., of Mercer; his sister, Ruth Fleeger of Butler; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Glavan; and his great-grandson, Jordan Jack.
FENRICK — Family of Albert Edward Fenrick, who died Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, Village of Leesburg, 1778 Perry Highway, Volant, Pa.A Mass of Christian burial for Albert Edward Fenrick, who died Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, will be observed at 10 a.m. Friday at Church of Beloved Disciple, 1310 S. Center St., Ext. Grove City.Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
