Russell Baptiste
Russell L. (Russ/Rusty/Pappy) Baptiste died on Sunday Nov. 20, 2022, at 5:20 a.m. at his home in Shelocta. He was 65.
Born in Butler on Aug. 29, 1957, he was the son of Raymond C. and Blanche E. (George) Baptiste. He was a 1976 graduate of Butler Senior High School.
He loved being at home spending time with his wife and family and his dog, Hickory. He enjoyed gardening, canning and preserving food, making wine, barbecuing, cooking, taking walks, just being in the woods, hunting (especially archery and spring gobbler season), bluegrass music, learning to play the violin and American history.
He retired from Snyder Brothers, Inc. of Kittanning.
Russ was a member of Harvest Church of Kittanning, where he served as an Elder. Russ had such a strong gift of faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, that it conveyed into much peace for him and his family and friends during his life (Hebrews 10:23)
Russ is survived by his wife, Debbie, whom he married on Sept. 15, 1979; their two daughters, Holly (Justin) Reiter and Jenna (Todd) Walker; five grandchildren, Tatum, Paisley and Trevor Reiter and Tucker and Bentley Walker; three brothers, Ray (Marylee) Baptiste of Largo, Fla., Terry (Joanne) Baptiste of Fenelton and Marty (Marlene) Baptiste of Butler; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Daniel J. Baptiste.
A special thanks to family, friends, old and new neighbors, Harvest Church, AHN Cancer Institute of Kittanning and Heritage Hospice of New Kensington for the love, care and comfort they provided for Russ and his family.
BAPTISTE — A celebration of life service for Russell L. (Russ/Rusty/Pappy) Baptiste, who died on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Harvest Church in Kittanning, to be conducted by his pastor, Dr. Michael Greiner.
A private burial service will take place for just the immediate family.
