Merten

Eleanor V. Merten, 86, of Saxonburg died Friday at Butler Memorial Hospital with her family by her side after fighting for six years with many health problems.

Born May 24, 1921, in Greensburg, she was the daughter of Ray and Edna McCurdy Cupps.

She was a homemaker and had worked for the 1960 U.S. Census, the U.S. Postal Service, Montgomery Ward and the James Austin Co.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, crafts, quilting, gardening and was an avid football fan.

She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Saxonburg, the Middlesex Township Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, and the Middlesex Woman's Mission.

Mrs. Merten was a volunteer at St. Johns LAS in Mars, and Meals on Wheels for St. Luke's Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Lucille (Terry) Uncapher of Saxonburg, Lois Govan of Southington, Ohio, Virginia (Dennis) Stacy Jr. of Ellwood City, and Ethel (Dave) Kristofic of Saxonburg; a son, Paul (Joyce) Merten of Saxonburg; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert L. Merten, in 1991; three brothers, Archie, Merle and Robert Cupps; a sister Dorothy Cupps,; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica.

<B>Merten</B> — Friends of Eleanor V. Merten, who died on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main Street, Saxonburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Saxonburg.
