Cranberry passes balanced preliminary budget

CRANBERRY TWP — Although significant infrastructure and recreation projects will move forward, property owners in Cranberry Township will not see a tax increase in 2023.

The supervisors at their Thursday meeting voted unanimously to approve next year’s general fund budget in the amount of $23.4 million, which is up from the current $22.3 million version.

The millage rate in the township will remain at 13.25 mills, meaning taxes will not be increased.

The budget included expenditures on the design of the solids handling portion of the township’s sewer plant in an ongoing $15 million to $25 million upgrade project; modernization of parts of the township municipal center; exterior upgrades at the center that include parking lot improvements; and renovation of the township’s basketball, tennis and pickleball courts at Graham Park.

The supervisors are expected to vote on a final version of the budget at their Thursday, Dec. 8, meeting.
