JD Miller Construction will begin work on the 24-by-30-foot pavilion in the backyard of the South Butler Community Library, 240 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
Members of three partnering organizations, the Rotary, the library and the Master Gardeners, are working to bring the outdoor learning space and community gathering place to Saxonburg.
The Saxonburg Area Rotary Club is the major financial sponsor of the project and chose this project as a benefit to the library and the community as a whole. The Master Gardeners, who are working on installation of their third garden at the library, hope to have the pavilion available for outdoor workshops about gardening, other nature topics, and just as encouragement for spending time outdoors.
Funding goals for the pavilion construction were met by bringing together the Rotary, the library and several community members. The library will share a design in early 2023 for the pavilion's outdoor learning space with sponsorship opportunities available for area businesses and community members.

On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, Holy Sepulcher Catholic School celebrated local veterans from the parish and community. Veterans were invited by students to attend a 9 a.m. Mass where they were acknowledged for their service to the country.
Mass began with the presentation of colors followed by a performance of “Taps” on the trumpet by Owen Close and Judah Hartle. Younger children, in grades kindergarten through third grade, participated in a special song, and eighth-grade students honored our country with a special flag-folding ceremony. Veterans were acknowledged by their branch of the military and given a special gift made for them by the students, followed by doughnuts in the school cafeteria.
