Bernard W. Hurd Jr.
Bernard William “Bill” Hurd Jr., 75, of Butler passed away Friday evening in his home following a four-year, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Bill was surrounded by his loving family.
Born Feb. 10, 1943, in Elmira, N.Y., he was a son of the late Bernard William Sr. and Lena Vine Hurd.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Bill served in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was Presbyterian by faith.
He was a sales director for Marvin Windows and Doors.
Bill was a member of the Esquire Club and the Dirty Dozen Golf Club, and he delivered Meals on Wheels. He was an avid golfer, sports enthusiast, artist and traveler. He also enjoyed sharing his thoughts on the political process.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia DeSantis Hurd, whom he married Aug. 25, 1979; four children: Jeffrey (Kris) Leko of Franklin, Tenn.; Mark (Elisa) Hurd of Amsterdam; Meghan (Joshua) Dickerson of Lexington, S.C.; and Erik (Jaime) Hurd of Zelienople; one brother, Robert (Pam) Hurd of Blairsville, Ga.; nine grandchildren: Alex, Jay and Sally Leko; Tristan Hurd; Liam, Lillianna and Lilah Dickerson; and Camden and Vivian Hurd.
HURD — Friends of Bernard William “Bill” Hurd Jr., who died Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Martin Funeral Home Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev.
