Donald Thompson
Donald Lee Thompson, 92, of Harrisville, passed away at Orchard Manor in Grove City on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, after a short illness.
He was born in Marion Township, Butler County on April 10, 1930, to Austin Clair Thompson and Minnie Lauretta Fair Thompson.
He married Dorothy Virginia Baker on July 22, 1950.
Mr. Thompson was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was a lifelong farmer. Don retired in 1995 after 20 years of service at General Electric in Grove City, where he worked in engine assembly.
He was a member of the Harmony Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Harrisville.
He previously enjoyed working with Belgian horses and displayed them in community parades. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden.
Survivors include three sons, Douglas W. Thompson of Dalhart, Texas, Larry J. (Judy) Thompson of Tucson, Ariz., and David B. Thompson of Harrisville; his daughter, Janice R. Berry of Harrisville; his sister, Zelda J. Toland of Ellwood City; three grandchildren, Kristy Sturgill, Dan Thompson and Dustin Berry; and his great-granddaughter, Ellie Grace Sturgill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, Harry, Willis and Raymond; six sisters, Viletta Gardner, Nellie Morgan, Mary Farrar, Alice Thompson, Reatha Thompson and Edna Balcko.
The family would like to express a special thanks for the care rendered by the staff at Orchard Manor.
THOMPSON — The family of Donald Lee Thompson, who died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. Saturday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Jones, pastor of the Harmony Evangelical Presbyterian Church presiding.
Interment will follow in Harmony Cemetery in Mercer Township, Butler County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Harmony Evangelical Presbyterian Church, or Orchard Manor.
