Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell honors Michelle Cogley for her volunteer work helping senior citizens use computers.

Michelle Cogley of Kittanning was honored Feb. 4 in Harrisburg by Gov. Ed Rendell for her volunteer work with senior citizens in Armstrong County. She helps train seniors learn how to use computers.Cogley is the daughter of Regis and Judith Convery of Butler and a senior at Indiana (Pa.) University.———

Recently the

Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary donated more than $75,000 to the hospital to enhance its cancer care program.Auxiliary president Bertha Salony presented a check for $75,548 to Butler Health System president and CEO Ken DeFurio at the auxiliary's annual meeting.Funds were raised by the auxiliary through a variety of endeavors including the Cherry Tree Gift Shoppe and the Hostess Shoppe.The contribution will be used to purchase a plasma coagulator and breast node biopsy equipment. Both will be purchased for use now and will be moved to the new operating rooms once the new patient tower is complete on the hospital's East Brady Street campus.
