Marlene L. Collins

Marlene L. Collins, 53, of Butler passed away Wednesday.

She was born March 27, 1963, in Butler, the daughter of the late Clarence and Ada (Smith) Hays.

Marlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Butler High School and Butler County Community College. She received master's degrees from Waynesburg University and Geneva College.

Marlene enjoyed hunting, quad and motorcycle riding, gardening, swimming and playing with her dogs. She was a kind and caring person who was very family oriented.

Marlene started her career in mental health at Irene Stacy, where she worked for 20 years, and recently had been a therapist for the Human Services Center in Lawrence County.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Gary F. Collins of Butler; her daughter, Shannon Hemphill of Butler; her son, Dustin (Amanda) Hemphill of Butler; two brothers, Butler County Chief Deputy Doug Hays and Tom Hays of Butler; a number of nieces and nephews; and her Boxers, Baldur and Mona Lisa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her niece, Brittney.

COLLINS — Friends of Marlene L. Collins, who died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, will be received from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. Friday at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Tim Goodman, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be private.For more information, visit www.youngfuneralhomes.com.
