BUTLER TWP — The volunteer fire departments in Butler Township recently received a $13,000 grant from the American Legion Post 778.

The money will help the three departments buy equipment.

Legion Commander Gary Kuhn visited each fire department during their monthly meetings to present a check and to thank the departments for their service to the community.

The awards are:

• Butler Township Volunteer Fire District 3 received $5,000 to help buy and decal a 2014 Ford Explorer Command Vehicle.

• Mercer Road Volunteer Fire Department received $4,000 to help buy a Hurst “Jaws of Life” Rescue Tool.

• South Butler Volunteer Fire Department received $4,000 to help buy a new thermal imaging camera.

The township commissioners and each of the fire departments thanked Kuhn and the American Legion Post 778 for their generosity.
