Luella J. Smock

Luella J. Smock, 89, of South Buffalo Township passed away Tuesday peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia in Cabot.

Luella was born May 20, 1926, in Winfield Township. She was the daughter of the late Luella (Savage) and William Sims.

She was the widow of H. Lynn Smock Sr., who passed in December 2015.

Luella was an active and faithful member of the Freeport United Methodist Church.

Luella enjoyed going dancing with her husband, crocheting, camping and riding her scooter. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother.

Luella is survived by her two sons, Howard Lynn and Mary Smock Jr. of Buffalo Township and Gerald A. and Cheryl Smock of Winfield Township; her grandchildren, Tracy Smock and Greg King, Jennifer (Travis) Pearce, Nathan (Chloe) Smock, Heather (Tim) Buck, Jason (Melissa) Smock and Michael (Becky) Smock.

Luella also is survived by her 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her son, Larry J. Smock, who passed away in 1991; her two sisters, Beatrice Miller and LaDora Sims; and her four brothers, William, Charles, Paul and Vern Sims.

SMOCK — Family and friends of Luella J. Smock, who died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Freeport United Methodist Church, Freeport, with the Rev. James G. Young officiating.
