Lawrence Francis
Lawrence M. “Bud” Francis, 82, of Manculich Lane, Chicora, Donegal Township, passed away early Monday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Lawrence was born in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 26, 1933. He was the son of Lawrence Washington and Marion Markham Francis.
Bud was a Lutheran. He was a graduate of Chicora High School. He enjoyed traveling, watching TV, spending time with his loving spouse, children, grandchildren and his friends.
Lawrence was a corporal in the U.S. Army and served in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of the S.O.I. in Bradys Bend.
Bud had been employed as a crane operator at Armco in Butler for 35 and a half years, and retired in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Buzzard Francis, who he married in Kittanning on Aug. 6, 1976. Also surviving are five children, Cindy D. Ferris of Butler, Mark W. Francis and his wife, Chantel, of Chicora, Jeffrey L. “Larry” Francis and his wife, Tyra, of Chicora, Heather D. Denham and her husband, Shawn, of Chicora and Lisa F. Clark and her husband, Edwin, of Tarentum; one stepson, James Carl Welton and his wife, Amy, of Karns City; 15 grandchildren, Dustin, Autumn, Mark, Allene, Tashawa, Elizabeth, Brad, Luke, Alayna, Londyn, Ashley, Jimmy, Nick, Ellie and Lillie; four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Riley, Andrew and Addison; one sister, Margaret Northime of Florida; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert F. Francis, and one sister, Kate Wick.
FRANCIS — Friends of Lawrence M. “Bud” Francis, who died Monday, April 13, 2015, will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Boomhower, pastor of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Chicora, officiating.
