James Nicholas Hasenflu Jr.

James Nicholas Hasenflu Jr., of Winston Salem, N.C., passed away Monday at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

James was born May 16, 1928, in Butler, to James Hasenflu Sr. and Ada Snyder Hasenflu.

He was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps As a member of the Fifth Fielders, he was stationed in Guam from March 1946 through January 1948.

James was an aircraft mechanic for over 40 years and had his private pilot's license. James enjoyed playing the organ and assisted in installing church organs for many years. In his spare time, he also enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Kearns and Mildred Bittinger, and one brother, William Hasenflu.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Jayne Hall Hasenflu; his daughter, Diane Hasenflu (Stephen) Nesbitt; three sons, David Nicholas Hasenflu, Dennis Michael Hasenflu and Chris Wayne (Diane) Hasenflu; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Stewart; and two brothers, C.R. (Pete) Hasenflu and Earl Hasenflu.

HASENFLU — The family of James Nicholas Hasenflu Jr., who died Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, will receive friends one hour before the funeral service at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Kerwin Baptist Church with Pastor Daniel Hawtree and Evangelist Daniel Hawtree Sr.Burial will be at 9 a.m. Monday at the Salisbury National Cemetery.The Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.Online condolences may be made to www.hayworth-miller.com.
