Leona H. Wolfe
Leona H. Wolfe, 87, of Zelienople passed away Monday at the Evergreen Nursing Center in Jackson Township.
Born on Dec. 18, 1925, in New Brighton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Arwood and Cora (Ketterer) Helble.
Leona was a faithful lifetime member of the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church in Zelienople, and was an avid member of the Rebecca Club and the Busy Lizzies.
She worked at several different businesses throughout her life, including Isaly’s ice cream shop in Zelienople, Reeder’s Florist in Beaver Falls and the James Austin Co. in Mars, until her retirement in 1990.
Leona enjoyed playing card games, cross stitching and knitting. Above all, she was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her three children, Larry M. Wolfe of New Brighton, Blaine A. Wolfe and his wife, Diana, of Cranberry Township and Amy Lee Johnson and her companion, William Behun, also of Cranberry Township; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Merle R. Wolfe, who passed away in 1996; her daughter, Arla Wesner; her daughter-in-law, Patricia L. Wolfe; her sister, Aletha Reeder, and her brother, Chalmers Helble.
WOLFE — The friends of Leona H. Wolfe, who passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church, 123 N. Pittsburgh St., Zelienople, with the Rev. Dr. John K. Jefferis, officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park in Rochester.The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Leona's honor in support of the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205 or the Harmony-Zelienople United Methodist Church.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Leona's family at www.boylanfuneralhome.com.
