SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University is replacing its AstroTurf playing surface at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium with the all-new AstroTurf 3D52 Xtreme.

The original AstroTurf was laid down in 2003.

The new turf will be installed this summer and will be completed in time for The Rock football team's practices in August.

NEW YORK — The overall rise of salaries for players in arbitration slowed to its lowest level since 2007.The 142 players who filed for arbitration last month averaged an 89 percent increase, according to a study of agreements by The Associated Press. That was down from an average jump of 123 percent last year and was the lowest increase since a 73 percent rise in 1996.

CLEVELAND — LeBron James says he wouldn't rule out playing again for the Cleveland Cavaliers.Back in the city where he began his NBA career, Miami's All-Star forward said he could see himself playing in Cleveland, and if he decided to return he hopes “the fans would accept me.” James played seven seasons for the Cavs before leaving as a free agent in July 2010. He acknowledged that he “made a mistake,” but says he has moved on and is enjoying his time with the Heat.

STATE COLLEGE — Special Olympics of Pennsylvania received about $80,000 in donations in memory of late Penn State football coach Joe Paterno.Paterno died last month, less than three months after being diagnosed with lung cancer. He was 85.In lieu of flowers or gifts, his family requested that donations be made to Special Olympics or the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, which benefits pediatric cancer research and care. The dance marathon begins Friday.
