James “Jim” T. Sweeney
James “Jim” T. Sweeney, 67, of Butler passed away Saturday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.
He was born Jan. 13, 1949, in Pittsburgh, to the late John Joseph Sweeney Sr. and Mary Louise Hagan Sweeney.
Jim was a 1967 graduate of North Catholic High School and a 1971 graduate of the Franciscan University of Steubenville, where he received his bachelor's degree in business.
He was the owner and operator of the McDonald's franchises in the Butler area, for which he received the Ronald McDonald Award in 2012 for outstanding performance.
Jim was a member of the Rotary Club of Butler PM, where he became a Paul Harris Fellow. Jim was on the board of PARC and Special Olympics in Butler. He also greatly supported the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He loved skiing, doo-wop music, the Steelers, the Penguins, the Pirates and PGA golf. Jim was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia “Cyndy” B. Sweeney, who he married Aug. 30, 1975; two sons, Rian M. Sweeney and David J. Sweeney; three brothers, Jack Sweeney and his wife, Cat, Paul Sweeney and Mark Sweeney and his wife, Kathy; one sister, Lorraine Wheeler; 12 nieces; and three nephews.
SWEENEY — Friends of James “Jim” T. Sweeney, who died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, with the Rev. James Murphy of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church officiating.Entombment will be in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at the Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rotary Club of Butler, P.O.
