Cold this morning, colder tomorrow morning

Butler County residents today experienced the lowest temperatures this winter.

Lee Hendricks, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, said this morning that the low temperature at the Butler County Airport this morning was 3 degrees. With winds blowing southwest at about 13 mph, the wind chill hit -14 degrees. The high today only will reach 11 degrees.

“It’s not going to be pretty for the next 24 hours,” Hendricks said.

It’s only going to get colder. The temperature is expected to drop to -2 degrees tonight. The wind chill Wednesday morning is estimated to be as low as -21 degrees.

“Tomorrow morning is going to be brutal,” Hendricks said.

There will be scattered snow showers today and Wednesday, but no accumulation beyond a dusting is expected.

By Thursday, the high temperature will reach 19 degrees. That will change into temperatures in the lower 20s Friday and Saturday and then the upper 20s Sunday.

Temperatures finally will warm up Monday, with the high estimated in the upper 30s.
