Fire destroys part of Cranberry warehouse
CRANBERRY TWP — An early Sunday morning fire destroyed part of a warehouse on Marshall Road.
Chief Brian Kovac of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Department said 30 percent of the building housing Five Star Construction’s equipment burned to the ground.
The building, which is across from Marshall Commons, contained construction equipment that caused a few minor explosions. Kovac said no firefighters were in danger because the attack was concentrated mainly on the building’s exterior.
He said the fire department was dispatched at 7:10 a.m., and the fire was under control by 7:35 a.m. Firefighters remained on scene until 9:35 a.m. to extinguish hot spots.
Kovac said no one was on the property when fire crews arrived, and there were no injuries.
Adams Area, Callery, Zelienople and Big Knob fire departments also responded to the blaze.
Kovac said the state fire marshal was trying to determine the cause of the fire.
